Substation Construction at Lawson Road

Provide Project Management to construct new substation to accommodate future load growth in a developing area of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Budget: $13 million

Scope of work includes: 

  • Perform extensive earth work, including: rock blasting, clearing, grubbing, and grading.  Install gabion baskets to create retaining wall and facilitate substation’s current grade and elevation.  Cut in access and site specific roads, which includes the installation and grading of different aggregate types.
  • Install and compact lifts of aggregate for the finish surface/grade of the substation, within the fence.
  • Cast-in-place concrete foundations for all new electrical and steel structures.
  • Install the following high-side and low-side equipment:
    • 33.6 MVA Conventional Transformer
    • 3700 KVA Substation Regulator
    • 2000 Amp Main Breaker
    • Breaker Bays (5)
    • 1200 Amp Feeder Breakers (2)
  • Create underground exits for Distribution feeders from substation.
  • Establish new 13.8kV Distribution line.
  • Clear, grub, and survey for new transmission line tie-in.
  • Add new 115kV transmission line.
  • Construct chain-link fence around the immediate substation area for security.
  • Design, procure, and install custom, decorative fence to bring an architectural element to the project area.
  • Layout and construct concrete driveway and apron leading up to the substation.
