EDG collected baby items to donate to the ACCESS Pregnancy and Referral Centers of the Greater New Orleans Area. ACCESS offers free, confidential assistance to pregnant women of all ages, single or married, in need of support. The Community Service Committee asked EDG employees to bring a baby item of their choice to the EDG Family Picnic on April 18th or to drop-off their baby item donations at the office during the month of April.
All donated baby supplies were required to be new and unused, these items included: Diapers, wipes, socks, wash clothes, onesies, receiving blankets, pacifiers, etc.
Additionally, the weeks following the picnic through May 8th EDG held a Baby Bottle Campaign. Oversized baby bottles were placed on each floor of the office where employees could make a monetary donation and EDG employees were invited to take home a baby bottle to fill with spare change. All donations were given to the Access Pregnancy and Referral Centers to purchase baby supplies for mothers in need.
What is the Access Pregnancy and Referral Center?
Since 1970 Access Pregnancy and Referral Center has been working in conjunction with Catholic Charities to help pregnant women of all ages, whether single or married, in need of assistance. They have three locations in the metropolitan area (Metairie, Kenner, and Marrero), and last year they served more than 2,600 pregnant women.
