EDG Consulting Engineers of Metairie - FOOD & CLEANING SUPPLIES DRIVE
August 22 - September 9, 2016
EDG Consulting Engineers of Metairie Community Action Group, Character In Action, will be conducting a food and cleaning supplies drive to benefit Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans in their mission to lead the fight against hunger in south Louisiana through food distribution, advocacy, education, and disaster response in our own community. In addition to regular needs of the hungry, the recent flooding (and the possibility of a future hurricane or tropical storm here in our area this time of year) has created an added challenge to provide food supplies to those in need. We will be collecting the below supplies most needed at this critical time.
Nonperishable Food Items:
Canned vegetables and fruit
Canned meats (tuna and chicken)
Soups and stews
Beans and chili
55 Gallon Contractor Trash bags
Monetary Donations: Second Harvest Flood Response
As EDG Consulting Engineers cares, so does Second Harvest in upholding the values of Integrity, Sustainability, Flexibility, Teamwork, and Commitment. The Character In Action group asks for your help in support of this most worthwhile cause for those in need.
Blue collection bins will be in the kitchens of each EDG Metairie office floor in our Lakeway office building along with flyers describing the types of donations most needed for this cause. With everyone’s participation, Character In Action is hoping for a most successful event this month and show that the people of EDG truly care.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Second Harvest, please click the link to their website to learn more about their services and other ways and types of donations to help in their mission.
In addition to food donations, we are also accepting cash donations for Second Harvest. Per the organization’s website, every $1 donated is equivalent to three (3) meals that Second Harvest will acquire through their own resources. EDG employees may bring cash donations to Cathlynn Morton or Laura Bassil.
Thank you for your generosity.
