Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk October 10, 2010

EDG-Metairie's Community Service Team has chosen the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser as one of its yearly community service events. For the third consecutive year, EDG participated in the Making Strides 5K Walk held on October 10, 2010, at City Park in New Orleans. Twenty-one employees and their friends and family members walked the Walk, and some walkers wore stickers bearing the names of loved-ones who have battled this disease.

EDG’s efforts to fight against breast cancer didn’t end at the Walk finish line. EDG employees opened their hearts and wallets and raised $3,155 through donations, the sale of popcorn, pink-ribbon pins and scarves, and the ever-popular raffles. This year’s raffle prizes included a New Orleans Hornets signed basketball, $150 Academy gift certificate, jewelry, and much more.

Along with EDG’s corporate donation of $1,000, the total amount raised for the American Cancer Society was $4,155. This exceeded the $3,000 goal, set by the Community Service Team, by a very impressive 38%.
